4th of July

We had a wonderful July 4th holiday! The Provost family drove over to Austin from cajun country and we had a blast... we went for a hike up Mount Bonnell, rented a boat on Lake Travis and drove out to Spicewood in the hill country to swim at Krause Springs. We are really enjoying all that Austin and the hill country has to offer! Here are some pictures...

Hiking Mount Bonnell...

On the boat on Lake Travis. Ironically, the water reminds us of the ocean in Fort Lauderdale... The rocky limestone bottom makes the water a beautiful aqua color.

Swimming at Krause springs. We loved this place! The water was so cold, but it felt so good in the hot Texas sun. Owen swam with some baby turtles, luckily none of them bit him!

Getting Settled

Well we finally feel settled after 6 weeks of living in limbo. We are having a blast exploring Austin and the surrounding area. We went on our first family hike last weekend to Mt. Bonnel and plan to go out hiking as much as we possibly can. It feels so great to be outdoors and explore...

Owen keep amazing us with all of the new little things he does and says. He is up to 9 words now - mama, dada, baba (bottle, come on it's a word), hi, bye, dog, goat, book and duck (his absolute favorite). He has started saying hi to people as they pass, it really is adorable. Since I haven't started work yet, Owen and I have lots of time to explore all the various parks and areas in Austin. He loves to climb on anything right now - steps, boxes, play equipment, me - and loves to get dirty. Tabasco and Avery have been keeping their distance since Owen typically throws things at them, poor things, they are so gentle and passive with him. I hope they soon will become friends. Owen does try to throw the tennis ball with Tabasco, although it doesn't go far, he is so cute trying. This was dinner tonight - spaghetti and sausage... yummy. Most of it was thrown on the floor, the dogs loved it!

Moving to Austin

The Doerle caravan headed out of South Florida on Friday, April 11th for the three day trek across the country to Austin, Texas! We spent the weekend in New Iberia with family, which was such a wonderful break from the road. We had a great visit and of course ate too much! Owen had his first crawfish boil experience and Avery and Tabasco exhausted themselves running wild...

We arrived in Austin on Monday and have been unpacking since. Here are some pictures of the big move. Please notice Owen strapped in his high chair in the photo - the only way we could keep him contained as we unloaded the Uhaul and the POD (yes we had both)...

We had our first social gathering on Saturday. We were invited to a toddler's birthday party on Lake Travis. It was a beautiful day on the lake...

Leaving Fort Lauderdale (sniffle sniffle)

Leaving Fort Lauderdale and all of our wonderful friends has been difficult, but we know we will see them soon when they all come to visit us in Austin (hint hint...) We will also miss Owen's wonderful school, here is Owen and Miss Paula saying goodbye to one another...

We tried to spend as much time as possible by the pool..

Catch Up Photos

Following the sale of our house on Feb. 22nd, we threw our belongings in a POD and moved in with our parents, Bill and Helene, for six weeks while we were transitioning. Here are some catch up photos from the last six weeks...

Right after our closing, Owen had his first birthday! Right around that time, he started walking and had his very first haircut. It was so much fun experiencing his first shaky steps. Reenie, Pop and Aunt Amy came into Fort Lauderdale for his birthday weekend. Here are some pics...

More gifts...

During our visit with Rennie, Pop and Aunt Amy, we thought it would be fun to visit the Bonnet House where we were married two years ago. Oh so much has happened in two years! We had gorgeous weather and felt like the only people there. Oh we will miss the perfect South Florida weather and palm trees...

The first haircut at Supercuts! Owen sat patiently while the stylist gave him his much needed haircut!

We are moving to Austin!

So since the last post a ton has happened - Owen's first birthday, his first steps, his first haircut, we sold our house at 121 NW 47th Street and we decided to move to Austin, Texas! Who would have ever thought that I, the ultimate Jersey girl, would live in Texas?!?

Once we get settled and unpack the computer, we will post some make-up pictures of our little man and our new house in Austin.

Our new address is: 606 East 48th Street Austin, TX 78751. "Ya'll" better come visit!

Owen's First Christmas

The week before Christmas, Owen's school had a Christmas Party. I was so proud of him - he was the only infant not deathly afraid of Santa & Mrs. Claus (maybe because Santa resembles his grandpa, see picture below). All the babies were crying and he just crawled on over to them and climbed on their lap. That's my boy!

For the Christmas holiday, all five of us (Kim, Elliott, Owen, Avery and Tabasco) piled into the SUV and ventured up and over to Louisiana to celebrate the holiday on the Bayou. We felt like the Griswold's and after 14 hours in the car and my parents trailing behind us - we were ready for some holiday cheer. Here are some pictures from the holiday...

Christmas Eve with his some of his new toys, and books, and games... oh my!

So excited!

Christmas morning... Santa left him two wonderful gifts. We were so excited Santa remembered to leave gifts for Owen in Louisiana, he is such a smart guy!
