Zzz... Zzz... Zzz....

Zzzz... Zzzz... Zzzz... We have been snoozing on this blog, for those of who actually check this... here are a few pictures from our Memorial Day weekend in Houston. Houston was great - quite the contrary to what everyone has told us about Houston prior to our 2.5 hour drive south towards the "third" coast. It is defiantly a city that has an unfair reputation - kind of like New Jersey! (Maybe that is why I liked it). We stayed downtown in a recently remodeled historic hotel, visited Rice University's campus, checked out the Zoo and the Butterfly House in Hermann Park and visited Discovery Green - Houston's new downtown park(...and a fine attempt at attracting people back downtown). We had a great weekend and look forward to getting back! Here are some pictures...

Owen's Second Birthday!

Happy Birthday Owen! Owen turned 2 in late February and we had a party here at the house to celebrate with a bunch of friends. The highlight of all of the birthday festivities was that John and Rebecca were here to celebrate. They are our close friends from Fort Lauderdale. We had a wonderful visit with them and miss them greatly! Here are some pictures...

Renee and Pop Visit

Renee and Pop came into town the weekend of Feb 20th to visit their favorite almost 2 year old grandson! We had an absolutely wonderful weekend with them tooling around Austin and relaxing. Below is Owen opening up a few birthday gifts from them...

Here are some pictures from our new favorite spot - the Mandola winery in Driftwood. Elliott and I felt as though we were back on our honeymoon in Tuscany... Owen played a phenomenal bocce ball game.

A boy and his dog

Here are Owen and Avery checking out the scene on the street...

All Aboard the Zilker Zephyr! Choo choo...

Well, we finally did it! It took us only 9 months to get over to Zilker Park to ride the one and only... Zilker Zephyr! Owen loved the train ride through the park and took the opportunity to wave to every person, dog, duck and leaf along the ride. He loved it and I know we will make it back soon! Here are some pictures...

After the "choo choo" we played in the park and fed the birds...

I love this picture because it looks like the bird is sitting in Owen's hand. We had a great Friday afternoon in the park... now we are all ready for spring and some GREEN in the landscape!

Owen's fun day at school with green paint

Just before the holiday, Owen came home like this... I forgot to post earlier, but had to share this. He came home covered in green paint, actually all of his classmates were too. His creativity is developing so fast right now. I need to start buying him clothes at the second hand store, because as you can see, most of his new clothes get smothered in paint...or glue...or dirt...or whatever else he gets into. But even though it more work on my end, I am trilled that he is having fun and learning how to be creative...

Our day in Georgetown

Georgetown is a historic town is about 25 miles north of Austin. We ventured there on Saturday to have lunch and sight see. It was a gorgeous day, around 75 degrees, and we had a blast looking at all of the historic buildings and having lunch in the square at the old general store. It felt like Billy the Kid could have been hiding around the corner. We are such suckers for quaint historic towns and there are so many in central Texas! Here are some pictures...

...The courthouse... You defiantly don't want to mess with Texas, there are courthouses everywhere!

...shops on the square...

Happy New Year

To start off the new year with a clean yard, we spent a few hours cleaning up all the leaves which just finally fell. Owen was such a great helper.

Christmas 2008

We had a relaxing and wonderful Christmas in Texas. Owen especially loved opening the gifts and made out like a bandit! Here are some pictures...

Owen's big gift from Mimi and B-Pa was a Radio Flyer Tricycle! Watch out!

Owen discovering the gifts Christmas morning that Santa brought him...

...checking out one of his new books...

...playing with his new Little People airport, he loves all forms of transportation...

...but most of all, he loved the wrapping paper!

More Thanksgiving Photos...

Since we were staying in Austin for Christmas, Santa visited us early at the lakehouse over the Thanksgiving holiday so we could all open a few gifts together.

All the boys were into their new hats... Look at our new Longhorn fan! Owen got two new puzzles and two new books!

Poor Tabasco, on the bottom of all of the boys!
